Ahmedabad Plane Crash: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Vishwas Kumar Ramesh, the sole survivor of the tragic Air India Flight AI171 crash in Ahmedabad, which claimed 241 lives. The emotional exchange at Ahmedabad Civil Hospital revealed Ramesh’s miraculous survival story. The 40-year-old British national of Indian origin, seated in row 11A, told Modi, “I did not jump but was thrown out,” describing the chaotic moments when the Boeing 787 Dreamliner crashed into a medical college hostel in Meghaninagar.
Ramesh recounted the horrifying seconds after takeoff on June 12, 2025, when a loud explosion rocked the London-bound flight. Seated near an emergency exit, he felt the plane shudder before it split apart, ejecting him into a pile of debris. Despite severe injuries, including fractures and burns, Ramesh survived, a lone beacon of hope in a tragedy that devastated families across India and beyond. His survival is attributed to his seat’s proximity to the exit and the aircraft’s rapid disintegration.
